Who's Calling + SPAM Guard

Know who's calling before you answer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 September 2026  ·  Effective: 12 September 2026

🛡️ **The short version:** Caller audio is streamed to our secure screening server and exists only in that server's memory (RAM) while the call is in progress. It is never recorded, never written to disk, and is erased the moment your transcript reaches your device. We only collect what we need to run the service. We never sell your data. Ever.

## 1. Who we are

Who's Calling + SPAM Guard ("we", "us", "our") is operated as an independent app. Our website is wcsg.app and our contact email is [hello@wcsg.app](mailto:hello@wcsg.app).

## 2. What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the service:

- **Email address** — when you create an account, so we can contact you about your account and service updates.
- **Country and language** — detected automatically from your device or IP to route you to the right Telnyx number and serve prompts in the correct language.
- **VoIP number** — the Telnyx number assigned to you for call screening. Stored in Supabase linked to your account.
- **Blocked phone numbers** — when you block a caller, only the phone number (digits only) and a category (spam/scam/unknown) are sent to our global database. No caller name, no audio, no transcript.
- **Minutes used** — we store the number of screening minutes used against your account to track your remaining minute allowance.
- **Transcripts** — your transcript is produced on our screening server and delivered to your phone as the caller speaks. Once your device has it, our copy is deleted. If your phone can't receive it — the app is closed, or you have no signal — we hold it only until your device collects it, and for no more than seven days, after which it is deleted automatically whether it was collected or not.

## 3. What we do NOT keep

Some of the following has to pass through our systems for screening to work at all. None of it is kept.

- **Call audio** — speech recognition runs on our secure screening server. The caller's audio exists only in that server's memory (RAM) while the call is in progress, is never recorded and never written to disk, and is erased the moment the transcript is delivered to your device. No audio is retained by us, anywhere, at any time.
- **Contact names** — your device contacts are read locally to identify callers in your contact list. This lookup happens entirely on-device. Contact data is never transmitted.
- **Your real phone number** — we never store your personal mobile number. We only store the VoIP number used for screening.
- **Location** — we detect your country from your IP address at signup only. We do not track location on an ongoing basis.

## 4. How we use your data

- To provision and maintain your call screening service.
- To send you your activation code and account-related emails via Amazon SES.
- To operate the global spam database — blocked numbers contributed by users are aggregated to protect all users.
- To track your remaining minute allowance and trigger top-up notifications.
- To monitor service health via anonymised usage metrics (total minutes screened, error rates). These metrics contain no personal identifiers.

## 5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the third-party services required to operate Who's Calling:

- **Telnyx** — our SIP/VoIP provider. Telnyx processes call signalling (not call content). See [telnyx.com/privacy](https://telnyx.com/privacy).
- **Supabase** — our database provider, hosted on AWS. Stores user accounts, blocked numbers, and call metadata. See [supabase.com/privacy](https://supabase.com/privacy).
- **Firebase (Google)** — used for push notifications on Android to wake the app when a call arrives. See [firebase.google.com/support/privacy](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy).
- **HubSpot** — powers our website and sends account and marketing emails. See [legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy](https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy).
- **Amazon SES (AWS)** — delivers those transactional emails. See [aws.amazon.com/privacy](https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

## 6. Identity documents — we don't ask for them

Who’s Calling + SPAM Guard does not collect, request, transmit, view or store identity documents of any kind. There is no ID check, no photo ID, no proof of address, and no legal-name or residential-address field anywhere in the app or on this website.

Screening numbers are provisioned under our own telecommunications account with Telnyx Inc. Your personal identity is never part of that process and is never passed to Telnyx or to any telecommunications regulator.

If you used this app before this change and previously submitted documents, those documents were handled solely by Telnyx and were never stored by us. To ask what Telnyx still holds, or to request its deletion, contact Telnyx directly at [privacy@telnyx.com](mailto:privacy@telnyx.com).

## 6a. If a number is withdrawn by a regulator

Telecommunications regulations change, and a regulator may withdraw a number type or alter its requirements in your country. If that happens to your number, we will tell you as soon as we are told. Neither Who’s Calling + SPAM Guard nor Telnyx can override a regulator’s decision, and no appeal is available to us on your behalf. Where a replacement number can be issued we will offer one. Where it cannot, your screening number stops working and cannot be reissued in that country. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Who’s Calling + SPAM Guard nor Telnyx is liable for the withdrawal or for any loss arising from it, and it is not grounds for a refund of minutes already purchased. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the consumer law of your country that cannot be excluded by agreement.

## 7. Data retention

- Account data — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
- Blocked numbers — retained indefinitely in aggregate form to protect users. Your individual contribution cannot be identified or removed as numbers are stored without any user link.
- Call metadata — deleted when you delete your account.

## 8. Your rights

You have the right to:

- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Request removal of a phone number from the spam database (if your number was incorrectly reported). Email [hello@wcsg.app](mailto:hello@wcsg.app) with the subject line "Number removal request".
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account from the app settings.

To exercise any of these rights, email [hello@wcsg.app](mailto:hello@wcsg.app). We will respond within 30 days.

## 9. Children's privacy

Who's Calling + SPAM Guard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [hello@wcsg.app](mailto:hello@wcsg.app) and we will delete it promptly.

## 10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, row-level security policies in Supabase, and access controls to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

## 11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active users by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

## 12. Contact us

For any privacy questions, data requests, or number removal requests:

- Email: [hello@wcsg.app](mailto:hello@wcsg.app)
- Website: [wcsg.app](https://wcsg.app/)

**Language:** This page is written in English and translated into the other languages the app supports. Translations are provided for your convenience. If a translated version differs in meaning from the English version, **the English version applies**. This does not remove any right you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
