Know who's calling before you answer

Support

Getting your calls screened comes down to one thing: **conditional call forwarding**. The app sets this up for you automatically — this page is here for reference and for fixing it on specific phones.

🛡️ **The important bit:** forwarding is **conditional only** — your normal calls ring as usual and your saved contacts are never affected. Only calls that arrive while your line is **busy**, from people *not* in your contacts, are sent to be screened — your voicemail still catches the calls you simply miss. Call audio is never recorded. It exists only in our screening server’s memory while the call is happening, and is never written to disk.

**⚙️ The app does the hard part.** Your screening number is provisioned for you, and the app fills in your carrier’s code with your number already in it — on the **Call Forwarding** screen during setup. You copy it, tap dial, and your carrier confirms. Then you make a test call so you can see it working for yourself.

We also send your number by **push notification and email**, so you can come back and finish at any time. Later on, **Global Preferences** re-runs the permission check and shows you the code again whenever you need it.

## 1. What call forwarding does & why it's needed

Who's Calling screens unknown callers by conditionally forwarding a call — only when your line is busy — to your personal screening number. There, the caller is checked and a live transcript is generated **before** you decide whether to pick up. Calls from your contacts, and calls you answer normally, never go through this. That's why activating the forwarding code once is all it takes to switch screening on.

## Two things to know first

Setting up screening takes one dialled code. Here is the whole journey, and the one thing it changes on your phone.

1. 1 **Your screening number arrives.** We send it by push notification and by email, so you always have it.
2. 2 **Open Call Forwarding in the app.** Your code is already filled in, with your number in it.
3. 3 **Copy, then dial.** One tap each.
4. 4 **Your carrier confirms.** A short message appears on your screen.
5. 5 **You make a test call.** So you can see it working for yourself.

💬 **What changes: your voicemail, in one specific way.** Your voicemail still catches the calls you miss, and people in your contacts ring you exactly as they do now. What changes is the *busy* setting: today, someone ringing while your line is busy goes to your voicemail; with screening on they come to us instead. That is what lets us screen a number you don’t know.

**Putting it back, on any network.** Open Settings → Calls → Call forwarding. Look at **Forward when unanswered** — that number is your voicemail. Set **Forward when busy** to the same number. No code needed, and it works on every carrier.

☎️ **And what the code actually does.** It sets *call forwarding on busy* — a standard feature every mobile network has had for decades. It only ever applies when your line is busy. It does not forward calls you answer, calls you miss, or calls from your contacts.

## Your carrier’s codes

Pick your country, then your carrier. Every code below comes from that carrier’s own support page — we don’t guess, and where a carrier publishes nothing we say so rather than give you a code that might not work.

💬 **What this changes on your phone.** Your voicemail still catches the calls you miss, and people in your contacts ring you exactly as they do now.

Type it in and every code below fills itself in, ready to copy.

### United States

Enter your screening number in its normal local form, the way you would dial it at home.

**If your carrier isn’t listed, or its code is refused, work down the others below.** These networks share the same standards, and a code published by one network in United States very often works on another.

### Chile

Enter your screening number in its normal local form, the way you would dial it at home.

**If your carrier isn’t listed, or its code is refused, work down the others below.** These networks share the same standards, and a code published by one network in Chile very often works on another.

## 4. Device-specific help

If the code was accepted but calls still aren't being screened, your phone may be blocking forwarding. Find your brand:

### Samsung

Samsung's Auto Blocker can silently block forwarding. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker and turn it off temporarily.

### Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO

Allow call forwarding permission: Settings → Security → Permissions → Call forwarding → Allow.

### Huawei / Honor

Grant the Phone app permission: Settings → Apps → Permission Manager → Phone → Allow.

### OnePlus

Allow the Phone permission: Settings → Privacy → Permission Manager → Phone → Allow.

### OPPO / Realme

Allow call permissions: Settings → Privacy → Permission Manager → Allow calls.

### vivo

Allow the relevant permission: Settings → Privacy → Permission Manager → Allow.

### Motorola

Grant the Phone app permission: Settings → Apps → Phone → Permissions → Allow.

### Google Pixel

Pixels generally work out of the box — just dial the code. If it fails, remove any other call-screening or call-forwarding app that may be interfering.

Still no luck on an Android phone? Some manufacturers hide call-forwarding permissions in a battery or "special access" menu. Search your Settings for **“call forwarding”** or **“permissions”** and make sure the Phone app is allowed.

## 5. Troubleshooting

I got "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"

The code was almost certainly typed slightly wrong. Re-open the app and use its Copy button to get the exact code, dial it from your **default** phone dialer (not a third-party dialer), and make sure you have signal. Enter it exactly, including the \* and # symbols.

Calls are still coming straight through

Forwarding may not be active. Re-dial your activation code, or check the status with **\*#67#**. On Samsung, disable [Auto Blocker](https://wcsg.app/support#samsung). On other Android phones, confirm the Phone app has call-forwarding permission (see your brand above).

How do I know it's working?

After activating, an unknown / test call that you don't answer should be screened and appear in the app with a live transcript. Calls from your contacts will ring normally and won't be screened.

Will my normal calls still ring?

Yes. It's conditional forwarding — only calls arriving while your line is busy, from people not in your contacts are screened. Everything else rings your phone as usual.

How do I stop screening?

Use the in-app toggle to pause it anytime. To take the forwarding off your line entirely, use the **Turn screening off** code for your carrier above. That clears the busy rule we set. It does not point your voicemail back at it, so afterwards open Settings → Calls → Call forwarding, look at **Forward when unanswered** — that number is your voicemail — and set **Forward when busy** to the same number.

Is my call data stored anywhere?

**Caller audio, no.** It is never recorded and never written to disk. Speech recognition runs on our secure screening server in memory only, and the audio is erased the moment your transcript reaches your device, where it is stored locally.

**Your transcript, briefly.** It is produced on our screening server and delivered to your phone as the caller speaks. Once your device has it, our copy is deleted. If your phone can’t receive it — the app is closed, or you have no signal — we hold it only until your device collects it, and for no more than seven days, after which it is deleted automatically whether it was collected or not.

Your contacts never touch the system.
